OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a suspect in the 2011 murder of his wife, whose body he dismembered and “disposed” in several locations in Laguna.
The CIDG yesterday said the suspect, identified only as Alberto of Cabuyao, Laguna, was arrested last March 14 in Santa Rosa City.
The CIDG said Alberto was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for parricide that the Cabuyao City court issued last March 11.
The victim, who had been declared missing, was last seen with her husband on May 7, 2011.
The police said that on Febuary 8 2024, the daughter of the suspect and the victim was supposedly informed by her uncle, who is a brother of the suspect, that her mother, who has been reported missing, was killed by her father.
The suspect reportedly dismembered the body of his wife and “disposed” of them in several locations.
The daughter relayed the information to the police on March 21 last year, leading to the recovery of the remains.
DNA testing of the remains, conducted on August 22, 2024, confirmed that it belonged to Alberto’s wife.
On January 27, police filed the parricide case against Alberto.
On March 11, the Cabuyao City Regional Trial- Court Branch 108 issued an arrest warrant against Alberto, leading to his arrest three days later.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III commended the CIDG operatives involved in the investigation and subsequent arrest of Alberto.
“The team knew and did their task with flying colors. This is remarkable. They never stopped in the filing of complaint, they patiently waited for the arrest warrant, then, grabbed the suspect at once,” said Torre.
“Rest assured that your CIDG means business. We urge the public to report all the criminalities, criminals and fugitives in your localities, and your CIDG will do the rest,” he said.
