A POLICEMAN was disarmed and placed under restrictive custody for allegedly raping the teller of a cockpit arena owned by the suspect in Batangas last month, the PNP said yesterday.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Fajardo said the suspect, Senior Master Sergeant Timothy Joseph Virtucio, is restricted at the Calabarzon regional police office in Laguna.

Fajardo said police investigators are preparing criminal charges against Virtucio. She said Virtucio will also face administrative charges which may lead to his dismissal from the service.

Fajardo said investigators were still waiting for the discharge of the victim from the intensive care unit of a hospital so they could talk to her extensively.

Virtucio reportedly raped the victim last January 10 in Batangas. His companion is still at large and is the subject of an ongoing manhunt operation.

“He is already under restrictive custody. He is at the regional headquarters of PRO (Police Regional Office) 4-A. His badge and firearm were confiscated,” said Fajardo.

Fajardo assured the victim and her family that the PNP is taking action against Virtucio.

“We’re filing the corresponding criminal and administrative charges against Senior Master Sergeant Virtucio. And we are also locating his companion who remains at large,” said Fajardo.

Fajardo declined to provide additional information about the case, noting that “this is a very sensitive and delicate case.”
