CONTROVERSIAL Metropolitan Manila Development Authority official Gabriel Go is back in the field after undergoing four days of the scheduled 5-day mentoring and coaching program, including anger and stress management.
Go personally lead a team from the MMDA Special Operations Group-Strike Force in conducting clearing operations against illegally parked vehicles and other traffic obstructions along Macapagal Boulevard, the premises of the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, Buendia Avenue, Zobel Roxas, and Chino Roces Ave. as part of the overall efforts of the agency under its Oplan “Semana Santa” to ensure the seamless flow of traffic during the Lenten break.
Go was accompanied in the operation by MMDA Traffic Education Division chief Edison Nebrija, MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations David Angelo Vargas, and Traffic Discipline Office Director for Enforcement Victor Nunez.
Nebrija led the 5-day coaching and mentoring program for Go upon the order of MMDA chief Romando Artes.
Artes ordered Go to undergo the mentoring program after a video went viral on the internet showing him berating a police officer in Quezon City during a clearing operation last month.
“Sinisiguro ng MMDA na magiging passable at obstruction-free ang mga pampublikong kalsada para magamit ng maayos ng publiko lalo na’t inaasahan ang dagsa ng mga biyaherong uuwi sa kani-kanilang probinsya ngayong Holy Week (The MMDA will make sure that our road ways are passable and obstruction-free for the motoring public, especially with the expected influx of travelers going to their respective provinces this Holy Week),” Go said.
Go said the mentoring and coaching program he underwent helped him a lot, especially in anger and stress management, self-control and traffic management leadership.
In the first few hours of the clearing operation that started at past 8 a.m., the MMDA SOG-SF team apprehended and issued traffic citation tickets to 57 illegally parked vehicles, including private cars, passenger jeepneys, buses, vans, trucks, taxicabs, tricycles and motorcycles.
The team also removed construction debris and illegally constructed structures set up by vendors.
