THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) is looking to complete the deployment of all poll paraphernalia, equipment, supplies, and forms to be used in the October 13 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) by the end of September.

Comelec – Packing and Shipping Committee Director Julio Theddeus Hernan said they will deploy the needed election materials between September 16 to 30, and will do a one-time shipment to clustered areas to save on costs.

“We would like to endeavor to be more cost efficient in our operations so we come up with a one-time dispatch of all the requirements,” Hernan said at the BPE stakeholders briefing held in Zamboanga City.

He said the one-time shipment will also ensure that the poll paraphernalia and supplies will arrive in their respective areas simultaneously.

“We will containerize all cargoes so that all allocations for a particular point of destination will arrive at the same time,” he also said.

Based on the deployment plan, the election supplies and paraphernalia will be dispatched via the Port of Manila. Those assigned for Basilan and Tawi-Tawi will be brought to the Port of Zamboanga; for Lanao del Sur in the Port of Cagayan de Oro; and for Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and Special Geographic Area in the Port of Davao.

“From there, our election officers will withdraw the allocated items intended for their respective areas of jurisdictions,” Hernan said.
