THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to begin today, Friday, the deployment of official ballots, automated counting machines (ACMs), and other poll paraphernalia to be used in the October 13 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE).
In an interview, Comelec Chairman George Garcia disclosed that the deployment for the BPE will begin this Friday afternoon, which is almost a month before Election Day.
“We will begin deploying the election paraphernalia by Friday afternoon, first in Tawi-Tawi and then onto our other provinces,” said Garcia.
“The batteries and some election paraphernalia have already been shipped. Now, we will have the ballots, voting machines, and other components of the automated election system,” he added.
The poll chief said they are looking to complete the deployment by the end of the month.
“By September 30, everything should already be deployed up to the municipal level. From the municipal level, they will then be distributed to the Electoral Boards in time for the Final Testing and Sealing,” said Garcia.
Similarly, he said the training of public school teachers as well as members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is underway.
“The training of Electoral Board members, who will serve in the Bangsamoro elections, is now ongoing,” said Garcia.
He said the timely preparations of the Comelec for the October 13 polls only prove their readiness to conduct it.
“As far as the Comelec is concerned, we are all systems go for the Bangsamoro elections,” said Garcia.
