WITH still over six months before the December 2025 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the calendar of activities for the next electoral exercise in the country.
The calendar of activities, including the periods for voter registration and filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs), and prohibited acts relative to the conduct of the village and youth polls set on December 1 are set under Resolution No. 11132.
The voter registration period for barangay and SK voters will be from July 1 to 11.
The last day for the approval or disapproval of applications for voter registration is July 28, while the deadline to post the final computerized voters list is on September 2.
Meanwhile, the COC filing period will be from October 1 to 7, including Saturday and Sunday.
The campaign period will be from November 20 until 29.
Premature campaigning will be prohibited from the filing of COCs to November 19.
The Comelec set the election period from October 27 until December 31, during which the carrying of firearms, having security personnel, transfer of civil service employees, and suspension of local elective officials will be prohibited.
The poll body said campaigning and the selling, offering, and taking of intoxicating liquor will be prohibited starting the eve of Election Day.
On December 1, the casting of votes will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the counting and canvassing of votes and proclamation of winning candidates to be held immediately after the closing of polls.
In an interview over the weekend, Comelec chairman George Garcia said they will push through with their BSKE preparations despite previous proposals for Congress to postpone it.
