THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expecting candidates, party-list groups and political parties that participated in the May 12 polls to flock its offices to beat the June 11 deadline for the filing of the Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs).
In a televised public briefing, Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco yesterday said they expect filers to submit their SOCEs near the deadline.
“Just as we expected, the SOCEs are not yet coming in droves. Filipinos are really fond of doing it at the last minute,” Laudiangco said.
“Our deadline in filing SOCEs is on June 11. We expect that most of them will be filing their SOCEs around that time,” he added.
Under Republic Act No. 7166, all candidates and treasurers of political parties are mandated to file their full, true, and itemized SOCEs within 30 days after Election Day.
Comelec Resolution No. 10999 set the last day to file SOCEs on June 11, 2025.
The Comelec said any SOCE filed beyond the deadline shall not be accepted.
Laudiangco said winners in the May 12 national and local elections will be not be allowed to assume his/her office until he/she has filed his/her SOCE.
He said candidates, party-list groups, and political parties that fail to file to file their SOCEs for the first time will be made liable to pay administrative fines.
Those who fail to submit their SOCEs for a second or subsequent time will be perpetually disqualified from holding public office.
