THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday reminded applicants that barangay certifications will no longer be accepted as proof of residency for voter registration.
The poll body also said that community tax certificates or cedulas, PNP clearance and company IDs will likewise be not accepted during the August 1 to 10 voter registration period.
“We will no longer accept them as valid identification documents for voter registration,” said the Comelec in a social media post.
It said identification documents that will be accepted include the national ID, postal ID card, person with disability (PWD) ID card, student ID or library card, senior citizen’s ID card, and driver’s license or student permit.
Also acceptable as identification documents are NBI clearance, Philippine passport, SSS/GSIS or UMID cards, Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) ID card; Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) license ID card; and certificate of confirmation from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).
“Bring one of these government-issued IDs,” the Comelec told applicants.
Voter registration will run from August 1 to 10 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in all Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs).
