CIDG arrests 2 Vietnamese for illegal practice of medicine

PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives arrested two Vietnamese in Makati City on Monday for illegal practice of medicine, it was reported on Wednesday.

The CIDG identified the suspects by their aliases as Nguyen, a female; and Phuong, a male, who will be charged for violating Republic Act 4224 or the Medical Act of 1959.

The suspects were arrested during an entrapment operation at the Doly Beauty Lounge in Bel-Air Village, Makati City.

The CIDG said the two were caught in the act of conducting a medical consultation and giving a quotation for nose augmentation and procedures for the modification of body parts without a permit or license and registration with the Professional Regulation Commission.

“This constitutes an illegal practice of medicine,” the CIDG said.

CIDG officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Rolindo Sugulion commended the CIDG operatives for their “immediate and responsive police service,” leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Sugulion assured the public that the CIDG is “steadfast in enforcing all the laws and unyielding in its fight against all illegal activities and criminalities nationwide.”
