OPERATIVES of the PNP Highway Patrol Group (HPG) arrested a Chinese in the act of selling a stolen sports utility vehicle in Manila last Wednesday night.
HPG spokesman Lt. Nadame Malang did not identify the 32-year-old suspect, who she said is suspected of supplying illegal drugs to fellow Chinese in Metro Manila.
Malang said the suspect was arrested in an entrapment operation on Gen. Luna Street in Paco, Manila, at 8:35 p.m. based on information provided by a potential buyer of the Ford Ecosport vehicle.
Malang said the suspect offered to sell the vehicle for P180,000.
Upon verification, the vehicle was discovered to be stolen, leading to the entrapment operation.
The HPG did not identify the owner of the vehicle. It also did also say when and where the vehicle was stolen.
A search of the suspect’s Mercedes Benz vehicle yielded 45 sachets of party drugs ecstasy, seven sachets of shabu, seven vape cartridges of marijuana and a sachet of cocaine, all worth around P900,000.
Also found inside the vehicle was a caliber 25 Colt pistol and nine bullets for a 9 mm pistol.
“Based on the information we gathered, the arrested Chinese is a supplier (of illegal drugs) in Metro Manila,” said Malang, adding the suspect’s customers are also Chinese.
Malang said operations are ongoing to identify and arrest the cohorts of the suspect.
