OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a Chinese who reportedly extorted millions of pesos from a fellow Chinese in Pasay City last Monday.
The CIDG-National Capital Region said two companions of the suspect, who are also Chinese, were also arrested during the operation for obstruction of justice.
Arrested for extortion was Changao He, 36, who is residing at Chengdu Bistro, Hobbies of Asia, Pres. D. Macapagal Boulevard, Barangay 076 in Pasay City.
Arrested for obstruction of justice were Yong Pin Pang, 32; and Ming Weo Xiong, 33, who are also residents of Chengdu Bistro.
During questioning, CIDG operatives saw Xiong in a military uniform from photos on his phone.
“Upon interview, Ming Wei Xiong admitted he was a former member of the People’s Liberation Army of China,” a CIDG report said.
He was nabbed during an entrapment operation on the second floor of Chengdu Bistro at 11:10 p.m. based on the complaint of another Chinese, Liang Xiao Hu, 34.
Police said Hu claimed He offered to help secure the release of a friend from the custodial facility of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission.
