Malacañang is studying the possible filing of charges against members of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Monetary Board who were tagged in the ”ghost employees” controversy.
“That will be studied, because right now they have been removed, and that is what the President wants. He wants his administration to be clean, and if someone should be held accountable, they should be held accountable,” Palace press officer Claire Castro said yesterday.
The BSP said that no charges had been filed against former Monetary Board members Anita Linda Aquino and Bruce Tolentino, in connection with the alleged ghost employees from their offices who had been receiving salaries despite being absent from their posts.
Administrative proceedings, however, were taken against the two who eventually resigned from their posts.
Four “ghost employees” were also dismissed after internal investigations, with penalties that included the cancellation of civil service eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits and perpetual disqualification from holding public office.
