THE water service provider in Bulacan has vowed to repair the pump stations and ensure the return of water supply in parts of the province in time for the opening of classes on June 16, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said yesterday.

Castro said the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) reported to Malacanang that PrimeWater Infrastructure has committed to conduct and complete the repairs in its pump stations by June 13.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., after conducting inspections at the Barihan Elementary School in Malolos City and Tibagan Elementary School in San Miguel, Bulacan last Monday, found that the school toilets were dirty and not functional due to the lack of water supply despite the school’s payment of utility bills.

The President ordered LWUA to investigate the matter and report to him in 48 hours.

Marcos said the dirty toilets and lack of water pose a risk to the health of children.

“Nangako po ang PrimeWater na iri-repair ang pump station by June 13, 2025. At makikipag-coordinate din po sila sa drainage contractor para po maisaayos din po. Ito po ay sa pagitan din po ng CMWD (City of Malolos Water District) and PrimeWater para ma-restore po iyong damaged mainline [PrimeWater has committed to repairing the pump station by June 13. They will also coordinate with the drainage contractor to ensure proper repairs. This effort is in collaboration with the CMWD and PrimeWater to restore the damaged mainline],” Castro said.

“Water is expected to return to normal levels upon completion of the repair and restoration of damaged pipelines before school opening. So, abangan po natin ang magiging trabaho ng PrimeWater kung tutupad sila sa kanilang pangako sa LWUA (Water is expected to return to normal levels upon completion of the repair and restoration of damaged pipelines before school opening. So, let us await the action of PrimeWater if they will comply with their promise to LWUA),” she added.

The President had previously ordered investigations on PrimeWater following complaints about a lack of water supply from their clients in different service areas, including Bulacan.
