PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. yesterday said the time for politics is over and everyone must now buckle down to work to fulfill their mandate and serve the people.
The President, in the 271st episode of the BBM Vlog, titled “Agriculture,” said officials elected in the May 12 mid-term elections have all been sworn in and started their fresh mandate last week.
“Ako ay makiki-congratulate ulit sa inyo at magpaparating ng good luck para sa inyong lahat. Tapos na po ang bahagi ng politika. Serbisyong publika na ang haharapin ninyo ngayon (I congratulate all of you again and wish you all good luck. The politics part is over. You will now proceed with public service),” Marcos said.
The officials started their work on June 30.
The President said there is a lot of work to do and the cooperation between the national and local government is important.
He said there are a lot of programs and projects that require the involvement of local government units, especially in ensuring the delivery of services to the people.
He said one such program is the P20 per kilo of rice, which involve national and local governments subsidies to keep the price low and affordable to indigent and vulnerable sectors.
The President previously said the second half of his term would focus on ensuring that the people feel the impact of the government’s programs and projects, with more attention given to addressing daily problems and concerns of the Filipinos instead of just focusing on long-term solutions.
Marcos has been going around the country since the conclusion of the midterm elections, which he said was a reflection of how the Filipinos felt – that they are tired of politics and disappointed with the performance and services of the government.
Only six of the 11 senatorial candidates of the administration coalition won in the May polls despite the Presidents’ presence in the campaign events held by the candidates that he endorsed.
The President is also recalibrating his administration with the conduct of a performance review of the Cabinet.
