THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has refuted what it said were misleading and unverified reports over the alleged temporary closure of the Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA)for repairs.
CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said the information was false, adding the airport remains fully operational.
Apolonio said that despite infrastructure projects, including the runway rehabilitation and terminal expansion which are currently in progress, there are no plans to suspend airport operations as CAAP remains committed to implementing the improvements with minimal disruption.
“Any scheduled repairs or maintenance work at Zamboanga International Airport and other CAAP-operated airports will be communicated through our official channels.
“We urge passengers and the public to rely on CAAP’s official platforms for accurate flight schedules and airport status updates,” Apolonio said. The CAAP strongly condemned the dissemination of false information, saying it fosters unnecessary panic and disrupts travel plans. The circulation of unverified claims is irresponsible and detrimental to public confidence, Apolonio added.
