THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has opened applications for the Comprehensive Air Traffic Service Course-Batch 19 (CATS 19) to recruit and train the next generation of Air Traffic Management Officers.
CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said successful applicants will undergo extensive training in crisis response, equipping them to handle in-flight emergencies, severe weather conditions, and technical failures with precision.
Air traffic controllers manage aircraft movements, prevent mid-air collisions, and respond swiftly to emergencies—functions essential to maintaining the integrity of the country’s aviation operations.
The ability of a controller to make swift, informed decisions under pressure has been instrumental in safeguarding lives and minimizing disruptions in air travel.
Interested applicants can review the eligibility requirements on CAAP’s official social media pages and submit their completed application forms, along with the required documents, in person or via mail/courier no later than 5 p.m. on May 30, 2025.
Qualified candidates will take the nationwide examination on June 28, 2025. Those who pass will proceed to the interview stage, followed by a medical examination at a later date.
Apolonio added that CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo emphasized the critical role of air traffic con-trollers, stating that they serve as guardians of Philippine skies, ensuring that every aircraft reaches its destination safely and efficiently.
“We encourage passionate individuals to embark on this re-warding career and uphold the highest standards of aviation safety,” Tamayo said.
As the Philippines continues to expand its aviation network, CAAP said it remains committed to strengthening air traffic management and developing world-class aviation professionals.
