FORMER senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan has secured the endorsement of several local leaders of Bulacan for his comeback campaign to the Senate.
Pangilinan visited Bulacan province on Tuesday.
The returning senator earned the support of the provincial leaders for his advocacies to improve the life of farmers and fisherfolks.
They likewise backed his platform to strengthen farmers’ income, and ensure food security and affordable food for all Filipinos.
Among those who supported Pangilinan’s candidacy are Mayor Jocell Vistan, of Plaridel town; Aimee Gabriela, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president; Mayor Jonjon Villanueva, of Bocaue; and members of Bocaue’s Sangguniang Bayan.
During his meeting with the Bocaue town officials, Pangilinan handed Villanueva a copy of the Sagip Saka Act, allows the national and local governments to buy directly from farmers and fisherfolks without public bidding.
Pangilinan is the law’s author.
Pangilinan also got the endorsements of Sta. Maria Mayor Omeng Ramos and his entire ticket, including Vice Mayor Eboy Juan; and Councilors Neil Mateo, Fe Ramos, Carl Castillo, Mac Clemente, Jess de Guzman, Rico Sto. Domingo, Lito Jacinto, and Resty dela Cruz.
Pangilinan said that while he has no billions of pesos worth of political machinery, he is banking on his principle and track record to convince the electorate to vote for him.
He said he is willing to work across political spectrums in pushing for his advocacies to uplift the lives of Filipinos.
Meanwhile, Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito has announced that he is endorsing the Senate bid of former senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino.
In a Facebook post, Ejercito said he has seen how Aquino worked hard for the passage of important legislations, including the Sangguniang Kabataan Law, and the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education, among others, which are now being enjoyed by Filipinos.
“Ibalik natin si senator Bam Aquino sa Senado! Ang senador na magsusulong ng mas malawak na libreng kolehiyo at siguradong trabaho. Senator Bam Aquino, number 5 sa balota! (Let us bring senator Bam Aquino to the Senate! The senator who will push for an expansive coverage of the free college education and sure jobs to graduates. Senator Bam Aquino, number 5 in the ballots),” he said.
