MUNTINLUPA City Mayor Ruffy Biazon has asked the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) to allow more public utility vehicles (PUVs) to pass through the National Bilibid Prisons (NBP) complex to ferry students and faculty members of the Muntinlupa National High School (MNHS) and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) following the closure of the access road in South Greenheights Subdivision.

The South Greenheights Village Association (SGVA) last month closed the access road due to concerns on cleanliness, safety and order in the subdivision.

The closure, Biazon said, has posed transportation problems to students and teachers in going to and from the MNHS and PLMun.

“Sa pagbukas ng klase sa PLMun, mas nararamdaman ang epekto ng limitasyon ng South Greenheights Homeowners Association sa access ng mga estudyante at ng security policy ng Bureau of Corrections (With the opening of classes at the PLMun, the impact of the limitation imposed by the South Greenheights Homeowners Association regarding students access, coupled with the security policy of the Bureau of Corrections has been keenly felt),” Biazon said in a post on his official social media account.

Biazon said BuCor Director Gregorio Catapang Jr. has earlier agreed to allow tricycles to ferry students to and from the two schools while the city government and village officials come up with a solution to the problem.

The tricycles are augmented by service vehicles deployed by the city government which provides free transport to affected students and teachers.

Biazon said there is a need to improve on the “agreement principle” and allow more PUVs to pass through the agency’s compound.

Biazon said he is set to hold a dialogue with Catapang and other BuCor officials today to synchronize and finalize the details of the agreement.

“This is not just about access through properties anymore. It’s already about access to education,” he said.

The MNHS has over 5,000 learners, while the PLMun has over 15,000 students.
