MUNTINLUPA City Mayor Ruffy Biazon on Thursday led members of the One Muntinlupa local party as they took their oaths of office before Executive Judge Myra Quiambao at the Filinvest Tent in Alabang.
Biazon’s party is the only Comelec-registered local party in Muntinlupa. It dominated the local elections, filling all the slots in the Muntinlupa City Council, executive, and legislative departments.
Joining Biazon in the inauguration ceremony were Rep. Jaime Fresnedi, Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac; District 1 councilors Rachel Arciaga, Ivee Arciaga-Tadefa, Paty Katy Boncayao, Allan Aman Camilon, Atty. Raul Corro, Alexson Diaz, Valentino Niefes, and Jedi Presnedi; District 2 councilors Lester Baes, Ryan Bagatsing, Luvi Constantino, Arlene Hilapo, Eliot Martinez, Dado Moldez, Marissa Rongavilla, and Jun Metong Sevilla.
In his message, Biazon promised he would continue the foundation of good governance that outgoing Mayor Fresnedi built during his incumbency.
He also committed to usher in political reforms and a “new brand of politics.”
“Together, in this transition, we are putting into place political reforms that we hope future public servants will also advocate and pursue. Through this initiative, we aim to leave behind the outdated, obsolete and overdue brand and style of politics and replace it with one that exemplifies professionalism, principles and proactivity,” Biazon said.
He said that One Muntinlupa would push forward the 7K Agenda (Katarungan, Karunungan, Kalusugan, Kaunlaran, Kapayapaan/Kaayusan, Kabuhayan, Kalikasan) on pandemic response and recovery.
The local executive added that he will introduce customer-centric programs., among them the establishment of the Mayor’s Action Center, a one-stop-shop for frontline services of the local government such as medical assistance, burial assistance, and other services.
Biazon likewise called for the cooperation of all sectors towards inclusive development.
“Maaaring may mga pagkakaiba tayo sa pinanggalingan, kaugalian at pananaw. Pero dapat tayo ay nagkakaisa sa hangarin na i-angat ang ating mga kababayan at ang ating lungsod. Sa ating pagkakaiba-iba, tayong lahat ay pare-parehong Muntinlupeño na ang pangarap ay magkaroon ng mapayapa, maayos at maginhawang buhay (We might have differences in our personalities and points of views, but we should remain united in our desire to uplift the lives of the people of Muntinlupa. We are all Muntinlupeños who dream of a peaceful, orderly and comfortable life,” Biazon said.
Prior to his mayoralty bid, Biazon served as the city’s lone representative in Congress. He filed 933 bills and 275 resolutions as principal author. Of the total passed bills, 82 were enacted into law.
