A man was nabbed in his house in Baras, Rizal before dawn Wednesday for possessing several firearms and ammunition amid a nationwide gun ban for the 2025 midterm election.
Col. Felipe Maraggun, Rizal provincial police office (PPO) director, identified the suspect as alias Miguelito, of legal age, a resident of Manalo St., Sitio Kapatagan, Barangay Pinugay, Baras, Rizal.
The search was witnessed by alias Miguel, an elected official of Barangay Pinugay, and a media representative.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the search and if the confiscated guns were licensed. The arrested suspect faces charges of violation of RA 10591 or the Firearms and Ammunition Act and Omnibus Election Code, officials said.
