INDEPENDENT senatorial candidate Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino yesterday thanked his volunteers and supporters for their hard work as he entered the “Magic 12” in recent poll surveys of preferred candidates in the May 12 midterm elections.
Aquino, in an interview in Pagadian City, said the work poured in by his volunteers and supporters created public trust and awareness, which led to his better standing in the surveys conducted by Pulse Asia, WR Numero, and Octa Research for the month of March.
“Sa sipag at tiyaga at sa pagkayod, pag-ikot sa buong Pilipinas, pakikipag-usap sa mga kababayan natin, pumasok na sa top 12 (With perseverance and hard work, visiting the whole country, holding dialogues with our countrymen, I have finally entered the top 12),” Aquino said.
Aquino had been placing in the lower ranking of poll surveys when he filed his certificate of candidacy last year.
His senatorial bid gained steam when the campaign period opened in February this year with the help of his volunteers and supporters.
Aquino said earning a spot in the top 12 has inspired him and his team to work harder in the final stretch of the campaign period.
“itong huling dalawang linggo, tuloy-tuloy lang kami sa pagsisipag, sa pagpapakilala pa at pag-kuwento ng mga nais naming gawin para sa bayan (We will continue to work hard, to re-introduce myself, and to inform the people of our aspirations for the country in the last two weeks of the campaign period),” he said.
From a ranking of 15 to 17 in February, Aquino entered the top 12 choices in the March survey of Pulse Asia, with a 28.6 percent rating.
