ABOUT P1.5 million worth of kush marijuana was intercepted by Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from an arriving passenger Terminal 3 yesterday.
BOC Assistant Deputy Collector for Passenger Services Mark Almase identified the passenger as Magnolia Paano Buenio, 34, of Molino, Bacoor, Cavite.
Almase said Buenio arrived aboard a Cebu Pacific (CEB) flight from Bangkok, Thailand. He was arrested for trying to sneak into the country some 1,100 kilograms of marijuana kush.
The BOC- Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG) found 1,100 grams of marijuana kush concealed in her check-in luggage after X-ray machine scanning and physical examination.
Buenio was arrested for violating RA 9165 and turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for inquest proceedings. – Osias Osorio
