National security adviser and National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) vice-chairperson Eduardo Año issued a statement on Saturday expressing his support for the public’s demand for integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Año affirmed the NTF-ELCAC stands with Filipinos in their “legitimate aspirations for a corruption-free nation,” including through lawful public demonstrations.

He said combating corruption is essential to the government’s whole-of-nation strategy for promoting inclusive peace and development.

Año called on all sectors including government agencies, local governments, civil society, and citizens to direct their efforts toward strengthening democratic institutions.

He said sustained, peaceful, and collaborative action is necessary to “build peace better.”
