THE five-day coaching and mentoring program to improve self-discipline and other traits of controversial Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Special Operations Group-Strike Force chief Gabriel Go started yesterday.

MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes said the “mentorship coaching on traffic management” will focus on self-discipline, stress and anger management and good behavior, and leadership skills.

“Ang hakbang na ito ay para sa self-improvement ni Go bilang pinuno ng SOG-Strike Force (This is for the self-improvement of Go as head of the SOG-Strike Force),” Artes said.

The coaching and mentoring program on Go is led by MMDA Traffic Education Division chief Edison “Bong” Nebrija.

Earlier, Artes decided to retain Go as head of the agency’s SOG-SF in the face of controversies involving the latter, including a viral video where he was seen shouting and berating a police officer during a clearing operation in Quezon City last month.

For that administrative offense, Go was reprimanded by the agency’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Staff for simple discourtesy.

Artes said Go’s reprimand came with a stern warning that he would be dealt with more severely if he repeated the same offense.

Earlier, Artes defended the agency’s decision to re-hire Go several months after he resigned his post.

Go resigned from the MMDA in June 2023 but was rehired in November of the same year.

At the time of his rehiring, Artes said no case had been filed against Go.
