THE senatorial candidates of the administration’s “Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas” will continue to woo the voters of Southern Luzon when they campaign in vote-rich Quezon on Friday.
“Quezon has always been a stronghold of civic energy and political influence,” campaign manager Navotas Rep. Roby Tiangco said. “We’re here to win trust, listen closely, and offer leaders who will deliver real results.”
The Quezon sortie follows Alyansa’s well-received campaign stops in other parts of Southern Luzon, including Trece Martires City in Cavite last March 11, Santa Rosa City in Laguna last March 22, and Antipolo City in Rizal last April 4.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s 11-man senatorial ticket will campaign across the province and hold a major rally at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City, hoping to win the support of the majority of 1.5 million registered voters and build momentum heading into the final stretch of the campaign.
The midterm elections will be held on May 12.
“Our message is simple: we are here to serve, not just to speak. Alyansa wants to uplift provinces like Quezon with real programs, responsive leadership, and results-driven policies,” he said.
Quezon, which has over 2.2 million residents, includes Lucena City, Tayabas City and 39 municipalities across four legislative districts.
The Alyansa ticket is composed of former Interior secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay; reelectionist Senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, and Francis Tolentino; former senators Panfilo Lacson, Vicente Sotto III and Manny Pacquiao; and Reps. Erwin Tulfo (ACT-CIS) and Camille Villar of Las Piñas.
Also yesterday, Pacquiao returned to his home province Saranggani, visiting Kiamba, where he and his wife Jinkee are registered voters of Precinct 0004B at Kiamba Central Elementary School.
The boxing icon said he is not a global celebrity campaigning “but a son coming home.” “Ang Kiamba, hindi lang lugar para sa akin. Pamilya ko ito (Kiamba isn’t only a special place for me. I consider it family),” he said.
“Taga dito din si Jinkee at mga kamag-anak namin kaya malapit ang Kiamba sa puso ko (Jinkee and our relatives are from this town that’s why Kiamba is close to my heart),” he added.
More than a homecoming, Pacquiao said the visit was a “commitment” since he was there to tell the people about his free housing for the underprivileged and calamity and disaster victims; scholarships for underprivileged students, and sustainable livelihood programs for local families.
Pacquiao said these are not merely campaign promises “but ongoing missions he intends to scale nationwide.”
Binay, for her part, visited Cagayan where she won the endorsement of Gov. Manuel Mamba and gubernatorial candidate Edgar Aglipay during a courtesy call at the Cagayan Provincial Capitol in Tuguegarao.
Villar visited Bataan where she reiterated her support for the agricultural and fisheries sectors, following the endorsement of local officials of her senatorial bid.
Bataan second district Rep. Albert Raymond Garcia, Orani Mayor Efren Pascual Jr., and first district provincial board member Tony Roman, were all out for their support for Villar.
