‘Alcoholic’ tests for junior, senior high studes? It’s fake new news

THE Department of Education yesterday told the public to ignore a social media post that junior and senior high school students would be required to undergo weekly “alcoholic” tests, saying it is fake news.

Aside from this, the DepEd also belied another social media post claiming that it will provide a P1,000 monthly allowance to students in public schools from elementary to senior high school starting this month.

“Paalala sa publiko. Fake news ang mga sumusunod na post na kumakalat sa social media (This is to warn the public. The said posts making the rounds of social media are fake news),” the DepEd said.

“Muling pinaaalalahanan ng DepEd ang publiko na mag-ingat at maging mapanuri sa mga impormasyong nababasa online. Labanan ang fake news at misinformation (The DepEd wants to remind the public anew to be careful and meticulous in the information they read online. Let us fight fake news and misinformation),” the DepEd added.

The department also appealed to the public to regularly visit its official DepEd Philippines social media accounts for updates.
