After performance review, heads may roll – PBBM

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said some heads may roll while some may even face legal charges, depending on the results of the ongoing performance review of the Cabinet and other members of government.

“That may happen in this ongoing performance review. That is my warning to them,” the President said in the first BBM podcast episode released yesterday.

The President said the performance review is an ongoing thing, adding that whenever they find someone involved in any irregularities or illegal activities, they would immediately be asked to leave his administration.

Marcos said he has done it in the past, wherein the official was just let go quietly. But those proven to be involved in corruption or other violations were legally charged.

“If there are those lacking, or corrupt, if they committed grave violations, then we will file charges. Let’s see what the result of this performance review will be,” he said.

Among the recent additions to his Cabinet are Information and Communications Secretary Henry Aguda, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon and Communications Secretary Jay Ruiz.

Over the weekend, the President appointed lawyer Patricia Yvonne Caunan as administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), vice Arnel Ignacio, who was relieved for alleged involvement in an anomalous P1.4 billion land acquisition deal.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said investigations are ongoing and appropriate action from suspension to relief may be slapped against those proven to be involved in the alleged land purchase that was made without the approval of the OWWA board of trustees.

“As of now, everything is still under investigation and if there are other officials involved in this, there will be action taken – someone could be removed or suspended. A thorough investigation is needed,” Castro said.
