AN Army general has been designated as chief of personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Brig. Gen. Ramon Flores took over as the AFP deputy chief of staff for personnel (J1) on Wednesday during the change of command ceremony presided over by AFP vice chief of staff Lt. Gen. Jimmy Larida at the general headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo.
Flores succeeded Air Force Lt. Gen. Rommel Roldan who assumed a higher position as the AFP deputy chief of staff in March.
Flores, a member of the Philippine Military Academy class of 1994, was the commandant of cadets at the Philippine Military Academy prior to his designation as J1.
Flores also previously served as the assistant chief of staff for personnel of the Philippine Army.
Flores is a holder of a master’s degree in public management, majoring in development and security, from the Development Academy of the Philippines.
“In an institution as dynamic and mission-critical as the AFP, leadership continuity is essential to maintaining a culture of professionalism and service,” said AFP public affairs chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad.
“With this transition, the AFP reaffirms its commitment to a people-centered approach, ensuring that its personnel remain its most valued asset,” Trinidad added.
