INCOMING Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan yesterday said that coming back to the Senate is a “sweet return and exciting” due to the hard-fought battle during the campaign period.
Pangilinan expressed this as he and incoming Senators Vicente Sotto III, Panfilo Lacson, Erwin Tulfo, and Rodante Marcoleta attended an orientation program yesterday for new and returning senators and for a photo shoot the Senate secretariat conducted.
Pangilinan said he is excited about his return to the Senate.
“Medyo surprising ang ating pagka-panalo, (the way we won is surprising) in terms of, number five. It was a hard-fought campaign despite the odds, So, it’s a sweet return and exciting,” Pangilinan said in a chance interview at the Senate building.
Tulfo said they were briefed about the benefits that senators and their respective staff members can avail themselves of, the process by which to file bills and resolutions, and the protocols to be observed in the Senate.
He said that no senator has reached out to him with regards to the change in Senate leadership in the 20th Congress, but said he will opt for the one whom his elder brother, incumbent Sen. Raffy Tulfo, will root for, even as he added that he will also study the possibility of choosing among Senate President Francis Escudero and Sotto.
