91% of Pinoys registered with PhilHealth

MORE than nine in every 10 Filipinos are now registered in the database of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

Data from PhilHealth showed that, as of December 31, 2024, a total of 102,745,273 Filipinos are registered with the state-run health insurer.

“The term ‘registered’ refers to beneficiaries already listed in the PhilHealth database,” said PhilHealth.

“By the end of the year 2024, 91 percent are already registered with PhilHealth,” it added.

The number includes 65.87 million direct contributors, including 37.24 million members and their 28.62 million dependents.

It also includes 36.88 million indirect contributors, composed of the 21.46 million members and their 15.42 million dependents.

ALL FILIPINOS COVERED

But despite having nine percent of Filipinos still unregistered, PhilHealth gave assurance that all the 112.88 million Pinoys are covered by the agency’s benefit packages.

This, it said, is in accordance with the provisions of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act of the Philippines or Republic Act No. 11223.

“All Filipinos are already automatically included under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP),” it noted.

“This sets PhilHealth’s coverage rate at 100 percent,” added PhilHealth.

Under the UHC law, it is the objective of the state to realize universal health care in the country.

This means that all Filipinos are guaranteed equitable access to quality and affordable healthcare goods and services.
