90% of Pinoys supporting candidates batting for increase in job opportunities

NINE out of 10 Filipinos would vote for candidates who are advocating an increase in job opportunities, ensuring food security and strengthening the healthcare system, an April 11-14 commissioned survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) showed.

The Stratbase Group-commissioned survey, which involved 1,800 adult respondents with a ±2% margin of error, showed that 93 percent of voters want candidates who push for job generation (statistically unchanged from 92 percent in March), and those who advocate the development of agriculture and ensure food security (up from 91 percent).

Ninety-one percent said they would support a candidate who advocates strengthening the health care system (unchanged from March).

The SWS also found that voters also prefer candidates who advocate for workers’ rights and overseas Filipinos’ welfare at 88 percent (from 89 percent); for reducing the poverty and hunger of Filipinos at 87 percent (from 86 percent); for controlling the prices of basic services and goods at 85 percent (unchanged) which is tied with equal access to education at 85 percent (down from 90 percent).

Voters also want bets who address the impacts of climate change and enhance disaster preparedness at 83 percent (from 82 percent); and fight illegal drugs at 80 percent (from 79 percent).

They also want candidates who advocate achieving energy security and usage of renewable energy at 79 percent (unchanged); defending national security and sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea at 78 percent (down from 82 percent); and eradicating graft and corruption in government at 73 percent (from 71 percent).
