PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG) personnel yesterday seized nine sacks of suspected shabu off the coast of Barangay Sisiman in Mariveles, Bataan.

The PCG could not immediately say the weight or quantity of the seized illegal drugs, which were initially found by a fisherman.

“The concerned local fisherman disclosed that on 29 May 2025, while fishing in the waters of Zambales, he sighted nine sacks suspected of containing narcotics,” the PCG said in a statement.

“Out of fear of possible reprisal, he secured the contraband aboard a grounded barge in Mariveles, Bataan,” the PCG added.

The fisherman later reported the matter to the PCG, leading to the inspection and subsequent seizure of the suspected shabu yesterday.

In a statement, the PCG said the fisherman sighted the nine sacks of narcotics while fishing.

“During the inspection, Coast Guard K9 units positively indicated the presence of illegal drugs,” the PCG said.

The PCG said it coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bataan, which “confirmed that the recovered items were alleged illegal drugs.”

As of yesterday afternoon, the PCG said personnel from the Coast Guard Station Bataan were still on site “to assist in the documentation, security, and turnover procedures.”
