OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested nine members of an organized crime group during a raid in San Pedro, Laguna early morning yesterday.
At least 10 other members of the Javier Group managed to escape and are the subject of an ongoing manhunt operation, said CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III.
CIDG operatives raided the safehouse of the group in Barangay San Antonio being used by the suspects as staging areas for gun-for-hire activities, gunrunning, robbery, and sale of illegal drugs.
The CIDG did not identify the arrested suspects.
Torre said one of the suspects, who is facing a murder case, escaped from the Bureau of Corrections facility in Muntinlupa City in 2016.
The operation also resulted in the seizure of nine firearms, including four rifles, said Torre.
Torre said policemen also seized some 200 grams of shabu worth P1.36 million.
“We only got half of them,” Torre said, noting the syndicate has more than 20 members.
“We have ongoing follow-up operations,” Torre added.
Torre said the suspects would be charged with illegal possession of firearms and drugs, among other cases.
He said they also received reports the suspects were also involved in land-grabbing.
