THE National Capital Police Office (NCRPO) has dismissed from the service eight Taguig City policemen who illegally entered a house, manhandled, and robbed its occupants.

In a statement, the NCRPO said five of the policemen were found administratively liable for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

The three others were found guilty of less grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

“Let it be known: there will be no second chances for police scalawags,” said NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin, adding that the NCRPO remains “firm and uncompromising in ensuring police accountability within the ranks.”

“That is why I consistently remind our police personnel about the importance of going ‘Back to basics’ — strictly following proper procedures and established protocols,” said Aberin.

Aberin reminded NCRPO personnel to follow what is written in the Police Operational Procedures, “because this serves as our guide in all operations, do what is right at all times, and not be involved in any illegal activities.”

“By doing so, we ensure that our actions remain lawful, proper, and respectful of the rights of our citizens,” said Aberin.

The case stemmed from an incident last February 9 when members of the Taguig City Sub-Station 5 entered the house without a warrant. The policemen manhandled some of the occupants of the house and robbed them of P76,000 in cash and electronic devices.

The complainants were “forcibly taken, deceived, and allegedly coerced into signing a document to drop charges” against the policemen.

The NCRPO said the sub-station commander was found liable for grave neglect of duty and was demoted one rank lower. It said another officer was exonerated from any administrative liability.
