THE eight Filipino crew members of the ill-fated M/V Eternity C were expected to return home last night (Wednesday) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Pasay City.
In an advisory, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the eight Filipino seafarers were scheduled to arrive at around 8 p.m., with Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and other government officials set to welcome them.
The eight crew members are part of the 21 Filipino crew members of the M/V Eternity C, which was attacked by Houthi rebels using a drone boat and ballistic missiles while traversing the Red Sea.
The other 13 crew members of the M/V Eternity C, on the other hand, remain unaccounted for.
In a statement, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said it is prepared to provide all forms of assistance to the repatriated seafarers.
The agency said it has provided airport assistance, food provision, and financial aid to the eight seafarers as soon as they reached the Jizan Port in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Upon their repatriation, it said the seafarers shall be given psychosocial support, medical referral, and reintegration services.
“We are committed to quickly providing the necessary assistance to the seafarers,” said OWWA.
