SEVEN out of 10 Filipinos believe the University in the Philippines (UP) is the best in the country, the fourth quarter Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey of OCTA Research showed.
The non-commissioned TNM survey of 1,200 respondents on November 10-16 showed that 71 percent believe UP is the best university in the country.
Another 15 percent said it was De La Salle University (DLSU) and 14 percent said it was the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU).
UP was the top choice of the majority from Mindanao (78 percent), the National Capital Region (71 percent), Luzon (70 percent) and the Visayas (65 percent).
It was also a topmost choice across socio-economic classes, with the highest among them Class ABC (79 percent), followed by Class E (74 percent) Class D (70 percent).
DLSU obtained its highest ratings from the Visayas (19 percent) and Luzon (17 percent), followed by NCR (12 percent) and Mindanao (10 percent).
AdMU obtained its highest ratings from NCR (17 percent), followed by the Visayas (15 percent), Luzon (13 percent) and Mindanao (12 percent).
Class D gave DLSU its highest rating at 16 percent followed by ABC and E at 10 percent each.
AdMU obtained its highest score among Class E (17 percent) followed by D (14 percent) and ABC (11 percent).
UP was also the top choice for the majority of male (72 percent) and female groups (71 percent) as well as among the different age groups (62 percent to 79 percent) and educational levels (70 percent to 78 percent).
The survey had a margin of error of ±3 percent.
