THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has dismissed six personnel from the service who tested positive during a random drug test in 14 CAAP-operated airports nationwide from February to August 2025.

Dismissed were three personnel from the Butuan Airport and one from the General Santos International Airport, Ozamiz Airport, and Bacolod-Silay Airport.

According to Dr. Roly Bayaban, Chief Flight Surgeon of CAAP’s Office of the Flight Surgeon and Aviation Medicine (OFSAM), the agency continues to prioritize this initiative, noting that the safety and efficiency of aviation operations greatly depend on the physical and mental well-being of all aviation personnel.

The drug testing aligns with the Philippine Civil Aviation Regulation on Psychoactive Testing and Reporting and the Civil Service Commission (CSC), which requires mandatory drug testing for new government employees and for employees who remain in government service.

In addition, those who test positive will be immediately dismissed from the service. CAAP assures the flying public that every flight within Philippine airspace is supported by a capable, drug-free workforce committed to the highest standards of aviation safety.
