4 Navy officers promoted

FOUR generals and flag officers, including the Navy’s vice commander, have been promoted to the next higher rank, the Philippine Navy said.

Navy chief Vice Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Ezpeleta led the donning of rank ceremony for the newly-promoted officers at the Navy headquarters in Manila last Tuesday.

“I require nothing less than the highest standards of professionalism in every action that you undertake, as this contributes to the growth of our organization and the attainment of our vision to become a modern and multi-capable Navy by 2028,” said Ezpeleta in his message.

The four were led by Navy vice commander Brig. Gen. Edwin Amadar who was promoted to the rank of major general.

Commodore Karl Decapia, commander of the Naval Education, Training and Doctrine Command (NETDC), now holds the rank of rear admiral.

Naval Forces Central commander Capt. Joselito de Guzman and Philippine Fleet deputy commander Captain Edwin Nera have been promoted to commodore.

Navy spokesman Capt. John Percie Alcos said the promotion of Amadar, Decapia, De Guzman and Nera “is a testament to their unwavering dedication, exceptional leadership, and invaluable contributions to the Philippine Navy.”

“Their advancement to the next higher rank not only honors their individual achievements but also strengthens the collective resolve of the Navy in achieving its mission and objectives,” said Alcos.

Amadar and Decapia are members of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1991. De Guzman is from PMA Class 1993, and Nera, Class 1994.

Amadar and Decapia assumed their posts as Navy vice commander and NETDC commander on January 31 and February 4, respectively.

De Guzman assumed the post of NFC commander on February 10 while Nera took over as Philippine Fleet deputy commander on February 6.
