OPERATIVES of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) arrested three Chinese and a Filipino for selling P4.2 million worth of unregistered beauty products in Malabon City.
The suspects were identified only as Kevin, Leo and Lin, all Chinese serving as managers and secretary of Sannyou Packaging Services; and Filipino employee Angelito.
The PNP-CIDG announced yesterday the arrest of the suspects, who were nabbed in an entrapment operation in Barangay Maysilo, Malabon City last April 22.
The suspects were caught in the act of selling and trading Ice Lerskin acne spot treatment and other beauty products without the required Certification Product Notification from the Food and Drugs Administration (FDG), the CIDG said.
The suspects are facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III commended personnel from the CIDG’s Northern Metro Manila District Field Unit for the “significant accomplishment.”
“We prevented the sale and trade of these alleged unregistered beauty products, thereby preventing health problems they may cause to our kababayans,” said Torre.
Torre reiterated that the CIDG continues in its operations to arrest individuals “engaged in any form of illegalities and crimes and is steadfast in enforcing the laws to protect consumers.”
“We urge the public to be cautious in buying and consuming health products. Just report any suspicious trading or activities and your CIDG will do the rest,” said Torre.
