THE Marikina city government and the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) awarded P100,000 cash gifts to four senior citizens who celebrated their 100th birthday this year.
Mayor Maan Teodoro went to the house of Avelina Robles of Barangay Sto. Niño to personally give the cash gift, fruits and a birthday cake.
“We personally visited some of our grandparents who reached 100 years of age to deliver small gifts and cash incentives,” Teodoro said.
Aside from Robles, other centenarians who were given cash gifts were Lydia Angeles of Sta. Elena, Consuelo de Asis of Jesus Dela Peña, and Reynaldo Dizon of Sta. Elena. The cash gift is mandated under Republic Act (RA)10868, or the Centenarians Act of 2016, which grants a P100,000 cash gift to every Filipino who reaches the age of 100 years old.
