THREE pedestrians were injured in Antipolo City on Monday after a Mitsubishi Xpander with plate no. NKG 5965 went out of control and mowed them down.
Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo, local police chief, identified the victims as Josephine Arsayo, 49; Maria Teresa Alcover, 51; Marivic Silverio, 56, all residents of Antipolo City. They were brought to different hospitals after sustaining serious injuries.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred along Marigold St., Antipolo Hills, Barangay San Luis, at around 3:20 p.m. The Xpander was en route to Antipolo City proper but the driver apparently fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle first bumped the roadside stalls, then mowed down the group of pedestrians standing beside the road, dragging them for about six meters before finally stopping.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ramonchito Ragaza, 39, of Rodriguez, Rizal was arrested and will be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries.
