POLICE operatives arrested three alleged cybercriminals in separate operations in Cavite, Cagayan and Nueva Ecija, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) reported yesterday.

One of the suspects, identified only as alias Bagsik, 27, was nabbed last Friday night in Kawit, Cavite, during a hot pursuit operation.

The suspect was nabbed “for allegedly hacking a courier service driver’s account and diverting high-value parcels worth approximately P15 million into his possession,” the ACG said.

He is facing charges for violation of Article 310 (qualified theft) of the Revised Penal Code in relation to the Republic Act (RA) 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention act of 2012.

“This operation reflects the diligent effort of the PNP ACG to go after law offenders who try to use online platforms to perpetrate cybercrime,” said ACG director Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang.

“We will ensure that these cybercriminals face their day in court,” Yang added.

In Cagayan, ACG operatives arrested a female suspect, identified as alias Yana, 39, in Tuguegarao City last Saturday afternoon “for blackmailing and extorting a man using explicit photos and videos.”

The suspect is facing charges for violations of Article 294 (robbery with intimidation against persons) of the Revised Penal Code and RA 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, both in relation to RA No. 10175.

“We will not tolerate those who exploit others through fear and intimidation,” said Yang.

“The PNP ACG is committed to holding offenders accountable and bringing them to justice. We urge the public to remain alert and report any form of online exploitation immediately,” Yang also said.

In Nueva Ecija, alias Randy, 22, was arrested on Saturday night in Cabanatuan City “for threatening and harassing a woman with explicit videos, the ACG said.

He is facing charges of violation of Articles 286 (grave coercion) and 315 (estafa/swindling) of the Revised Penal Code, RA 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, and RA 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004), all also in relation to RA 10175.

Yang said “using intimate content to threaten or exploit others is a grave offense.”

“The PNP ACG remains firm in its mission to protect victims and ensure that abusers are held accountable. We urge everyone to speak out, report these crimes, and help break the cycle of online harassment,” he also said.
