TWENTY-FIVE Filipinos arrived on Sunday from Israel where they worked as caregivers, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
The 25 availed themselves of government’s voluntary repatriation program, and returned home amid a ceasefire forged by Israel with Iran on June 24.
On June 30, the Department of Foreign Affairs lowered the alert in Israel to Level 2 (restriction phase) from Level 3 (voluntary repatriation).
“The 25 OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) compose the 39th batch of repatriates from Israel under the government’s voluntary repatriation program,” it said.
In all, the DMW said, 72 OFWs have sought voluntary repatriation since the Iran-Israel conflict erupted on June 13. Since October 2023 when hostilities in the Middle East started, 1,405 OFWs have returned home.
The DMW said the 25 OFWs were given comprehensive reintegration assistance from different government agencies upon their arrival, including financial assistance from the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
