POLICE operatives have arrested two suspects in the killing of a House of Representatives official who was shot dead during the birthday party of his daughter in Quezon City last June 15.
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said the suspects, identified only as alias Balong and Jason, were nabbed last Monday in separate operations in Quezon City and Caloocan City, respectively.
In a press briefing at Camp Crame, Fajardo said Balong was the “middleman” while Jason was a “lookout.”
Fajardo said Balong confessed involvement in the killing of Director Mauricio Pulhin, chief of the technical staff of the House Committee on Ways and Means.
Pulhin was shot dead by two assailants in Barangay Commonwealth during the birthday celebration of his daughter. Pulhin was brought to a hospital, where he later died.
Fajardo said murder charges have already been filed against the two suspects and four others, including the two masterminds.
“We have filed charges against the two suspects who are under the custody of the QCPD (Quezon City District), plus four others who are at large,” said Fajardo.
“They (Balong and Jason) were arrested in separate operations. First to be arrested was Balong, followed by Jason. Both are under the custody of the QCPD,” said Fajardo.
Fajardo said Balong confessed that he was contacted by the two masterminds, who are live-in partners, to hire people who would kill Pulhin.
Fajardo said the masterminds promised to pay P30,000 to the people who would be hired to kill Pulhin. However, she said the masterminds have yet to fulfill their promise.
Fajardo said the masterminds have a personal grudge against Pulhin.
Pulhin said Pulhin was planning to file charges of qualified theft and estafa against the suspects before his murder.
Fajardo said the masterminds are former employees of Pulhin in his private business.
