OPERATIVES of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) arrested two fake dentists in separate operations in Cotabato and Zamboanga cities last Monday.
The ACG named the suspects only as alias Sab, 24; and Kate, 21; who are now facing charges for violation of the Philippine Dental Act of 2007, in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Sab was arrested in an entrapment operation last Monday afternoon in Cotabato “for offering unauthorized dental services online.”
Kate was nabbed Monday afternoon in a similar entrapment in San Jose Gusu, Zamboanga City, for the same offense.
Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang, ACG acting director, commended the personnel involved in the successful operations.
“Unlicensed dental services not only violate the law but also pose serious health risks to the public,” said Yang.
Yang warned individuals against posing as medical professionals.
“The PNP ACG warns against seeking or offering medical procedures online without proper credentials and urges everyone to report such activities to help safeguard public safety,” said Yang.
“We remain firm in our mission to protect the public from these deceptive and dangerous practices,” added Yang.
