OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and PNP dismantled two drug dens and arrested eight suspects, including a barangay councilor, in separate anti-drug operations in Cebu, Bohol, and Ilocos Sur.
One of the drug dens was dismantled after a buy-bust operation in Sitio Lubi, Barangay Luz, Cebu City in Cebu at 7:50 p.m. last Friday night, PDEA said.
The operation resulted in the arrest of the drug den maintainer, alias Raul, 63; his live-in partner, alias Anecita, 42; and his brother Arnulfo, 66; who are both employees of the drug den.
Seized from them were 11.65 grams of shabu worth P79,220, drug paraphernalia, and P200 in cash believed to be proceeds of their illegal activity.
The second drug den, located in Sitio Lumbang, Barangay Sta Cruz in Calape town, Bohol, was dismantled during another buy-bust operation conducted by the PDEA and PNP at 7:04 p.m. also on Friday.
Three individuals were arrested during the operation — alias Noel, 56, the drug maintainer; alias Irvin, 26; and alias Noel, 26
Eleven grams of shabu worth P74,800 were seized from the suspects, along with drug paraphernalia.
In Ilocos Sur, two drug personalities, including a barangay councilor, were arrested during the simultaneous implementation of search warrants in Barangay Lungog in Narvacan town at 11:10 a.m. last Saturday.
Virgilio Alban Parel Jr, 55, a councilor in the barangay, yielded four grams of shabu worth P27,200, drug paraphernalia, a black wallet and a coin purse.
The second suspect, identified as Rogelio Jacob Mendoza, 60, yielded two grams of shabu worth P14,000, a cal. 22 rifle, and two bullets.
The Eastern police district (EPD) seized over P1.6 million suspected dangerous drugs and arrested 66 persons during a weeklong buy-bust operation in its area of responsibility.
Col. Villamor Tuliao, EPD director, said the operations were conducted between February 1 to 7 in the cities of Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig, and San Juan.
During the 46 anti-drug operations, police seized 231.62 grams of suspected shabu, 107 grams of marijuana, 11 grams of high-grade marijuana or kush and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Aside from drug operations, the EPD continued to strengthen checkpoints to enforce the Omnibus Election Code (gun ban) for the coming 2025 election.
