The Calabarzon police regional office named the suspects only as alias Huang, 27, a resident of Pasay City, and alias Zhao, 29, a resident of Paranaque City.

Cops manning a checkpoint at the Daang Hari intersection in Imus City flagged down the suspects’ RAM pick-up truck “for having an improvised plate number.”

Police said the vehicle did not stop, prompting the policemen to alert the Bacoor City police, which led to a chase and subsequent interception of the vehicle at the Bacoor Boulevard intersection.

“Despite being stopped, the suspects continued to evade arrest by reversing the vehicle, nearly hitting the responding officers,” a report from the Calabarzon police said.

“As a last resort, police personnel disabled the vehicle by shooting the rear tire,” the report added.

It said the suspects alighted from their vehicle and fled on foot but were eventually apprehended.

Seized from the two were a Bersa Thunder 380 pistol, a magazine, 149 rounds of ammunition, two rifle scopes, and two plate numbers.

Also seized were a wallet containing assorted identification and a BDO Visa card, a Lexus key card, and four mobile phones.
