OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested in Paranaque City two Chinese for allegedly selling medicines that are unregistered with the Food and Drug Administration.
The suspects will be charged with violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9711 (Food and Drug Administration Act) for the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, and transfer of unregistered drugs, the police unit said.
The suspects, identified by their aliases as Hu and Quan, both residents of Concorde Village in Tambo, Paranaque City, were arrested early last Saturday morning during a buy-bust operation.
The CIDG said the two were nabbed after it received intelligence information that a crime group was involved in the sale of unregistered medicines in various areas in Metro Manila.
Seized from the suspects were assorted medicines, including against type 2 diabetes, insomnia and arthritis, with an estimated market value of P15,000.
“All of these drugs were not registered in the Food and Drug Administration,” the CIDG said in a statement.
Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, the CIDG director, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to the sale of unregistered medicines.
