OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two Chinese for illegal practice of medicine during a raid in Paraňaque City last Tuesday afternoon.

The CIDG named the suspects only as Huan and Jian, both residing on Imperial Plaza Residence in Barangay Tambo, Paraňaque City.

The suspects will be charged with violation of the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009 and the Medical Act of 1959, the CIDG said.

They were arrested at their residence at around 3 p.m. after authorities received information about their involvement in the manufacture, sale, offering for sale or transfer of any food, drug, device or cosmetic that is adulterated or misbranded, and illegal practice of medicine.

Seized during the operation were boxes of assorted medicines and drugs, medical supplies and equipment, infusion alarms, surgical instruments, one laptop used as an ultrasound diagnostic system, notebooks of medical procedures, and prescription receipts.

The CIDG said the suspects failed to present licenses and permits required to dispense medical products, operate a medical clinic, or practice medicine in the Philippines.

CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said: “The raid against these suspects is a warning to all criminals that the CIDG is here to capture all individuals or groups, local or foreign nationals, who violate the law and commit criminalities in the country.”

Torre assured the public that the CIDG remains steadfast and committed to protecting the public by enforcing the laws and capturing all violators and criminals.

“We urge the public to report all illegal practice of medicine and all other illegal activities in your area and we will do the rest,” said Torre.
