A joint operation carried out by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation and the Land Transportation Office in Davao City led to the confiscation of 33 surplus vehicles, including 19 right-hand drive units, and the arrest of two Cameroonian citizens.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the July 12 operation in Talomo District was carried out after weeks of surveillance operations that confirmed the validity of the intelligence information they received.

Santiago identified the two Cameroonians as Ndopgima Polowah Goodenought and Eric Bobonmeh Monkam.

The NBI chief said the raided establishment had no accreditation from the LTO to engage in surplus car business or modification of vehicles.

He added that charges for violation of Republic Act 8506 or the Act Banning the Registration and Operation of Vehicles with Right-Hand Steering Wheel in Any Private or Public Street, Road or Highway have been filed against the two before the local city prosecutors’ office.
